About me

Hi! I’m Hong Nguyen, this blog is a place to record my progress in data area. I’m based in North Rhein Westfalen, Germany. After graduating master degree in Economics and Finance in 2020 and becoming a mom of 2, i asked myself who i want to be in the next 5-10 years, what can I do to get back to industry. To figure out the answers, I got my feet wet in: accounting, advertising, web designer, tax consulting, and data analytics. Out of all of those experiences, data analytics was the most interesting to me.

I took further online courses towards it. Uncovering hidden insights and discovering way to optimize results through data is a very intellectual and practical process. In order to stay motivated on the never-ending learning curve, I’m engaged in projects or interesting dataset. My first data-analytics related project was Covid-19 Data Exploration in SQL Server that you can look at here. It took me many late hours to make this and teach myself SQL and Tableau along the way. Besides self-learning, I certified myself with the exams from Microsoft. Getting the Microsoft Data Analyst Associate Certification in March, 2021 is truly my motivation to keep moving forward with what I chose.

It may take many years, but my goal is to become proficient and confident in my data analytics skills, then one day, can work with machine learning and advanced modeling. It’s still a long way to go, but I believe this past I have taken risks, put a lot of effort, and made much progress.
